2013 11 18 - 24

Sukaupiau visą savo valią ir motyvaciją ir atsikėliau tris valandas iki paskaitų, kad nueičiau į sporto salę ir baseiną, ir spėčiau išsiplaut galvą prieš paskaitą. Persirenginėju, galvoju kaip šįkart tai tikrai tą spintelę užrakinsiu, ir lieku stovėt su apatiniais, nes susivokiu, kad vietoj sportinių kelnių įsidėjau antrą maikutę. Na, nieko baisaus, galvoju, nueisiu į baseiną. Aaarba ne, nes atkeliavus pamatau, kad ten viena iš tų penkių dienų per trimestrą, kai įprasta sesija išnuomojama privačiai. Kadangi galvą vis vien reikėjo išsiplaut, tiesiog įsmukau į dušą. Tikiuos, penktas bandymas bus sėkmingesnis!

Gathered all my will power and motivation to wake up three hours before my lectures to hit the gym, swimming pool and have some time to wash my head before the lecture. So I'm changing, thinking how this time I'm gonna lock the right locker, and suddenly find myself standing in my underwear realising that instead of my track bottoms I packed a second t-shirt. No worries, I think, I'll go to the swimming pool. Ooor not, because upon arrival I see that it's one of those five days a term when general session is booked for other groups. As I still had to wash my head, I sneaked in just to have a shower. Hopefully fifth time will be luckier!

Įsivizduok žmogų, įbėgantį į sporto salės persirengimo kambarį visą suprakitavusį karate aprangoj, ir išeinantį su sunknele ir makiažu. Tai va, va taip aš buvau šį ketvirtadienį. Su Inžinieriais Be Sienų be ėjom pavakarieniaut ir į klubą, o tikomės pusvalandį po mano treniruotės, tad man teko nusipraust, persirengt ir visaip išsipuošt sporto salės dušuose. Užtat taip smagiai prisišokom, kad kitą dieną vos kojas pakelt galėjau - mano mylimiausiam klube buvo Latino muzikos naktis!

Can you imagine a person running into the gym changing room all sweaty in karate kimono/gi and then walking out in a dress and with make-up on? Yeah, that was me on Thursday. We had EWB social half an hour after my training finishes, so I had to take a shower, change and make-up myself in the gym changing room. The night was much fun - Latino night in my fav club; the next day I couldn't lift my legs!

On Sunday I took part in my very first karate competition while I'm in the UK! As my blog with full story is in Lithuanian, here's a short summary:

• the competition was run in teams of five: 4 guys one girl.
• Birmingham had 2 teams, Coventry and Warwick one each.
• Coventry didn't have any girls, so I had to betray my beloved uni to be in their team.
• ...but those guys are as cool as ours, so I still had loads of fun.
• I had three fights - two ended in draw, one lost, but that's not important as this competition was just to get experience.
• Though I'm disappointed in how horrible my techniques were, at least I managed to break my 'kyai' through - I never used to shout out loud.
• Got some good feedback from the referees and teammates, including my regular - don't smile when on tatami!
• Great experience in general - I enjoyed my time greatly!

• Prisirinkau knygų iš bibliotekos. Hesės daugiausiai. Sakau, skaitysiu. Dabar tereikia išmokti išsiburti papildomo laiko dienoj.
• Gathered loads of books from the library. Herman Hesse mainly. I'll start reading again, I decided. All I need now is to learn how to use magic for adding more hours to the day.
• Pasiunčiau velniop miegą ir sėdžiu darbuojuos naktimis. O tada rytais pramiegu. Tobulas planas, ne? Kaži kaip naktimis geriau dirbasi - tyla, ramybė.
• Screwed sleep, I said, and keep studying throughout the night. Perfect plan, isn't it? Somehow it's better for me to work during the night - peace and quiet.
• Gali būt, kad mesiu savo padavėjos darbelį dėl kito, kur suteikia tai, ko šitam trūksta - pastovumo ir pagarbos.
• Might happen I will be dropping my current part time job for another one. The second provides what the first one lacks - consistency (always same place, same people) and respect.
• Superinė naktis su draugais - nusišokau iki nukritimo Iraniškam restorane!
• Had the most amazing night with my friends; danced my feet off in Iranian restaurant!

2013 11 04 - 10

Labai pavėluota savaitės apžvalgėlė. Mano savaitėje pirmadieniai ir antradieniai neegzistuoja - prabūnu universitete nuo aušros lig sutemų ir dar ilgiau, sau nė minutės nelieka, tad jei apžvalgėlės neparašau sekmadienį, trečiadienis artimiausia proga.

Extremely late weekly highlights. Mondays and Tuesdays don't exist in my week - on both days I stay in Uni from dusk till dawn and even longer without even a moment to myself. Thus, if the highlights aren't out on Sunday, Wednesday is the first opportunity.

Savaitės pradžia buvo ilga ir skausminga, nes buvau pavargusi ir nedamiegojusi rašydama darbą, kurį reikėo priduoti pirmadienį, o antradienį buvo mano ilgai ir sunkiai organizuotas hidrogeologų konkurso atidarymas. Lyg ir neblogai praėjo, žmogiukas video man net padėkojo, chi chi! *nejaukiai besididžiuojanti*

This week started rather slow because on top of my Mondays and Tuesdays being the busiest days of the week I was very sleepy and tired from staying up all night to finish my submission for Monday afternoon and on Tuesday we held the oh-so-long-and-painfully organised hydrogeolist competition launch workshop. Hopefully it went well enough, then all the effort pays off! I was even thanked personally on the video, hihi! *awkwardly proud*

Likusi savaitės dalis buvo tobula! Pasidarėm sau atostogas ir nukeliavom į Prancūzijos pietus - Provansą. Aplankėm drauges, kurios ten šiuos metus studijuoja, pasišildėm, pasigrožėjom vaizdais ir prisilinksminom. Mane ypač sužavėjo Marselis! Šiek tiek vaizdų žemiau, o pilnas kelionės aprašymas neužilgo.

The rest of the week was am-a-zing! We decided we deserved to take some time off the studies and travelled to the South of France - Aix-en-Provence. Visited our friends doing Erasmus year there, enjoyed the warmth and lovely views and had loads of fun. I was especially amazed by the beauty of Marseille! Papuošaliukų gamybos karštligės pasėkmės | Consequences of jewellery-making fewer

Pirma dalis mano naujagimių. Ne visi dar vardus įžiebę, bet visi širdžiai brangūs. Keletą ir senbuvių įkėliau nostalgijos pastūmėta - arba dar nebuvo apturėję savo fotosesijos, arba išdovanoti ir senai nematyti.
First part of my newborns. Not all have sparked their names yet but all have their corner in my heart. A couple of veterans made their way to the post too - some haven't had their photo shoot before, others given away as presents and missed greatly.

Įvykiai ir naujienos/ Events and news:

• Pamiršau, kad pirmadienio rytais nemokamas autobusas į universitetą nevažiuoja. Laimei, vairuotojas irgi pamiršo, tad buvau vienintelė keleivė ir mane atvežė iki pat pastato durų. Limuzinai atgyveno - dabar madoj autobusai! :P
• I forgot that on Monday mornings the free shuttle bus to Uni is not in service. Gladly the driver forgot that too, thus I was the only passenger and got a door-to-door service. Limos are done -buses are the new trend, haha!

• Vėl užsikabinau gaminti papuošaliukus. Neužilgo pasidalinsiu nuotraukytėm!
• Made quite a few new pieces of jewelry - post with pictures to follow soon!

Anonsiukas | Teaser

• Trečiadienį turėjo būti karate klubo susibėgimas - vakarienė ir boulingas, bet buvo atidėta į kitą savaitę, o manęs  Birmingeme nebus. Liūdesėlis. Nors man ir dar fainiau bus, visad norisi spėti visur.
• Wednesday was supposed to be Karate social. However, it was postponed to next week and I'm not in Birmingham then. Feeling sad even though I know I'll have even more fun.

• Visai pamiršau, kad Vėlinės. Vietoj to ketvirtadienį buvau konferencijoj apie iškastinio kuro atsisakymą Fossil Free kampanijos ture po Europą. Išsigandau tai tiek pat (tik kad dėl žemės likimo šįkart), o dar ir įkvėpė.
• Completely forgot about Halloween; instead went to a conference on why and how to go Fossil Free. As spooky plus inspiring!
