Savaitės apžvalga Nr. 2 | Weekly highlights #2

Šiek tiek suvėluota mano paskutiniosios rugsėjo savaitės apžvalga. Šiek tiek konteksto - tai paskutinė savaitė prieš prasidedant mokslams, kai vyksta mugės, skirtos naujokams, ir panašūs renginiai visam universitete.

• Bandžiau įsikurti naujam kambary. Perstumdžiau baldus, susitvarkiau, pradėjau dekoruot ir... vėl viską sujaukiau. Be šansų man tvarkingai gyvent!
• Užsiregistravau į baseiną. Už papildomus £15 pridėjau sporto salę ne piko metu - ryte iki 11 ir vakare nuo 8. Tikiuosi, pavyks išlaikyt motyvaciją vaikščioti! Na, arba tą motyvaciją sukaupti, nes kol kas (per pusantros savaitės) buvau vienąkart...
• Ir tas vienintelis kartas buvo įsimintinas - po treniruotės atsirakinus spintelę neberadau savo daiktų. Širdis kulnuos, nes kompiuteris ir piniginė su visais dokumentais buvo kuprinėj. Po išsamios paieškos, pagalbos pasikvietimo ir trumpos apklausos (Ar tu tikra, kad tikrai šiame persirengimo kambaryje buvai?) visiškai neapsikvailinant paaiškėjo, kad užrakinau greta esančią tuščią spintelę, o mano daiktai taip ir prabuvo atrakinti šalimais. Nebūčiau aš!
• Trečiadienį universitete prasėdėjau iki tol, kol užsidarė, beruošdama šias grožybes. O viduj buvo taip gera - prisiminiau renginius mokykloj, kai visi aplink laksto bebaiginėdami paskutinius paruošimo darbus susinervinę, kad nespėja, bet vis vien padėdami vieni kitiems ir besigrožėdami kitų darbu. Paskutinės valandos iki renginio magija!

  Renginių kalendorius iki pat žiemos atostogų. Negi mes nesam tiesiog nuostabiai organizuoti?

• Ketvirtadienį jau buvo pati mugė, kai turėjau savo būrelį "parduoti" naujokėliams. Prabuvau visą dieną, bet gavau daugiau energijos nei atidaviau. Matyt buvo smagu matyti tiek entuziazmo. Sekėsi puikiai - man teko nubėkt išspausdint dar 50 skrajučių, nes pritrūkom. Dukart! Regis laukia šaunūs metai!

• Penktadienį visam savaitgaliui išvažiavom (visas mūsų būrelio komitetas) į Inžinierių Be Sienų konferenciją, kur mus apmokė šiems ateinatiems mokslo metams. Aš ėjau į presidentų sesijas, tad išmokau daugybę naudingų dalykų, kuriuos ir plačiau pritaikyt galima: kaip publikuotis, kaip būti geru lyderiu, kaip susidoroti su iškylančiom problemom. Sesijos truko 8 valandas per dieną, bet teisingai sako, kad kas sunkiai dirba, tas smagiau ilsisi - vakarus praleidom nepaprastai smagiai, tad grįžau su daugybe naujų pažinčių, kurios, tikiuos, prasitęs į draugystes.

Tiny bit late but here's my review of the last week of September. A little bit of context - this was Fresher's Week - the last week before the term actually starts and it is aimed for new students to get involved in uni life by lots of fairs and similar events.

• I tried to turn my new room into something livable. So I moved the furniture around, got everything in places, started decorating aaaaand it's gone - my room is a mess again. I guess I'm just not meant to be living in a tidy room!
• Signed the membership for the swimming pool. For additional £15 I added off peak gym - until 11am and after 8pm. Hopefully I can keep my motivation up throughout the year! Or more likely to start accumulating it as so far (in more than one week) I went there once...
• And that one time was memorable - after the training I unlocked my locker just to find it empty. You can imagine my horror as my laptop and wallet was in there. After a thorough search, asking for help and after a short interrogation (I had to answer loads of questions like 'Are you sure this is the right changing room?') it turned out that I locked the locker next to mine while my stuff stayed unlocked just nearby. Typical me!
• On Wednesday I stayed in Uni up until I was kicked out from the Guild. I was making these beauties with loads of people around me designing and printing their promotional material. And I was feeling so blissful - I remembered all the events at school when everybody's stressed out and rushing to finish their final details but still help each other and stop to say how beautiful other person's work is. The magic of the last minute before the event!

• Thursday was the glorious day of the fair when we were selling our society to freshers. I stayed there for the whole day but I got more energy then I gave out. I guess I waas just happy to see so much enthusiasm. I went really well - throughout the day I had to go and print out 50 more flyers. Twice! It seems an exciting year awaits us!

• On Friday we (the whole EWB Birmingham committee) left for the National Volunteer Training Weekend where we were trained how to manage the society for the upcoming year. I attended the Presidents' stream, thus I've gathered loads of helpful information, which can be applied on a much wider range: how to publicise, how to be a good leader, how to deal with any arrising problems. The sessions lasted for 8 hours a day but they say right: work hard, party harder - we had loads of fun during the evenings. I returned to Birmingham newly inspired and with a bunch of new connection which hopefully will turn into friendships.
